7:26 pm - My birthday!
|
|
(I know I've dropped off the face of the LiveJournal planet - but this is the best way to reach all of you who still post out here in cyberspace (and who don't have MySpace accounts) and I'd Love for you all to be there)
I'm hosting a kick-ass birthday show/party this Saturday at Tambaleo. Come celebrate my birthday with the three b's: bands, boobs and booze. The festivities start at 9PM with some of the best music you've ever heard. It's the perfect way to close out the holiday season!
It would mean a lot to me if I could celebrate another year on this earth with my friends, future friends and colleagues. Please stop by, even for a li'l bit. The club is open ot the public, so tell everyone you know to come to the party!
Special appearances by: Twenty Questions, Stefanie Fix, Rachel Loy, Ruby James, Craig Marshall and more!
Tell your friends, family, neighbours and co-workers to come join the party!
I Love you guys and hope you can make it!

~Chris

1:15 pm - Rachel Loy's PsYcHobAbBlE Film Party!
|
|
Hello, my Lovelies! I'm sorry I've been away for so long, but I've had many thrilling adventures and return with many a tale to tell. But before I delight your auditory canals with a yarn the length of the Nile, I wanted to let y'all know of a special event this Thursday...
My friend, Rachel, is filming a live DVD on the 13th. There will be a suprise opening band (shhhhhhhh!), special one-time-only merch for sale and FREE beer! Entrance is also FREE and this celebration will be a blast! Plus your breathtaking visage will be captured on film.
It would mean so much to Rachel - and to me - if you came to this event. If any kind Souls would like to help out with bartending, merch, etc, please let me know. Even if you can only lend your services for an hour or so, I would Love you forever. And for an added incentive - aside from getting to have me boss you around see me - all volunteers get FREE BEER!
Danke my darlings!
~Chris

11:56 pm - Local art @ Wet Salon
|
Last night at First Thursday was the opening of "David de Lara's Picture Show" @ Wet Salon. This exhibit, featuring the fine art and photography of my good friend, David de Lara, will be up at the salon throughout the month of December. I encourage all of you to go see it and support the arts in Austin. I'd also recommend buying some prints as they would make lovely Christmas presents. Many of the models in David's photographs are friends of mine; all the girls are gorgeous; the paintings are faboo. (And for my stalkers fans, there are a couple photos of Moi that would be the perfect addition to your shrine art collection.
Wet Salon is located @ 1109 South Congress Ave. (next to Goody Two Shoes). For those not in Austin, go to David's website or his MySpace profile and you can contact him about his art and to purchase prints.

11:09 pm - Talk amongst yourselves...
|
|
The first couple of days of my trip were very stressful (engine problems, lost luggage, getting majorly lost on the way to the wedding - don't even get me started). The wedding was wonderful and it was so good to see everyone (some whom I hadn't seen since college). I spent the next day recovering from having had too much fun the night before. Today was quite entertaining and filled with things that made my biological clock start ticking (damn you! STOP it! {hits ovaries}). I made a lot of people happy. All in all it was worth the trip up here. And God/dess willing, I won't have to come back to this godforsaken island 'til at least Christmas.
Thus ends another chapter in my life...

I'm finally back online for those who noticed I was gone for the past week and a half. Both my computer and Time Warner need a good bitch-slapping, but that's beside the point. For those who didn't even notice I was gone, who needs you anyway? It's funny how bad the withdrawal can be when one's lifeline is ripped out unexpectedly. We - or at least I - rely on the internet a lot more than we realise. Simple things like checking tv listings. Silly things like browsing through IMDB. And then there's the networking beauty of email and MySpace. When you're in promotions, no matter what industry, you need shit like that (and in the comfort of your own home) more than you care to admit.
But enough of my rambling.
I'll be at a wedding this weekend so whatever fabulousity is happening will have to deal with my lack of presence, as impossible as that may seem. I recommend y'all go see Rachel play without me (Thursday - MOMOs - 9:30). *sniff, sniff* As much as I know you all Love and worship me, please don't call unless it's a matter of dire importance cos I'm not gonna answer my phone anyway. So there. :oÞ And for those of you who constantly feel the need to call me in the wee hours of the morning (*coughs* Daniel *coughs*), don't... unless you have a death wish, of course. You can, however, call on Sunday; me answering is directly proportionate to how much I Love you and how disgusted I am at the time. Y'all know where to find me Monday night. :o)
Um, anyone wanna drive me to the airport tomorrow around 2-ish? {bats eyelashes}

Yesterday was an insanely busy afternoon. And even though half of my volunteers flaked, the rest of us took up the slack and everything came together nicely for the show. Jen and Bill are amazing and are the main reasons this production occurred. And Spencer organised everything else. The DVD is gonna be incredible and should be out this summer.
Things got off to a slow start and people started filing in while Tucker played. The turnout was great and I'm glad so many people came. Bill and I had joked the night before about how there would either be a surplus of people or no one would show up. I'm glad it was the former. They filmed Tucker's first few songs and are turning them into music videos.
My boys totally rocked the house. I had such a blast mingling, promoting and even running around. I can't tell you how proud I am of these guys. I've watched the band evolve over the years and become even more wonderful. There are so many great things in the works and they deserve it more than anything. sdx and zillioneyes, thanks so much for helping out. And thank you to everyone else who came to the filming. If you missed the show, you can come see them Monday night at the Lucky Lounge.

8:44 am - Oh happy day
|

Since I can't sleep anymore (HA! that makes it sound like I got more than 3 hours of sleep), I might as well talk about my weekend. Jesus, is it already over? Fuck. SXSW "Hell week" has begun.
Saturday night was kind of boring, especially given the raving "I've got a really cool private party for you to go to" from Spencer (acting like it was some sort of top secret spy mission and only revealing the details to me in private). It was the afterparty for the premiere of "Drop Dead Sexy", which features 00:54 on its soundtrack amongst other local musicians. A few peeps performed, including my guys (who got cheered on for an encore). 'Twas... okay, but nothing exciting.
Last night was the Gat5 private party. <== they're an artist collective here in town. 00:54 played along with Johnny Goudie and Stefanie Fix. It was really good to see Johnny as I haven't seen him in a long time. Stefanie was wonderful. And of course, there was the free music and booze. *grins* I even got Alex to come out; I haven't seen him in months and he got a chance to network. Towards the end of the party, a few of us headed over to Club Deville cos there was a rumour that the Flaming Lips were gonna make a special appearance. Alas, the rumour was untrue but we still had fun and I even learned some useful self-defense tips from Spen as we tried to beat the crap out of one another... again. I Love my friends. :o)
Oh, and I met some guys from Paris who are in town for SXSW. They "didn't speak Texan" so I got to chat with them in Frenglish. LOL Their band plays at Tambaleo on Thursday. I don't remember the name of the band, but the whole night is "French night" at the club.
Tonight, y'all had better come down to the Lucky Lounge to see 00:54. But if acoustic melancholy is more your thing, Joseph King & Friends are playing down the road at MOMO's. Stefanie's on the bill, too. Come to one or both. Both are free AND awesome.

7:41 pm - Addiction

Is it sad that I went through withdrawal this weekend cos I had no internet? This time I can't even blame it on fucking Time Warner. One minute I'm online and the next I can't establish a connection... but according to my modem, I'm online. Letting it sit for a day was pointless and defragmenting wasn't working cos my 'puter's a piece of shit. Aggravated, I started preparing to burn everything from my hard drive before I would inevitably have to reformat the bitch. Then I remembered that I had recently installed updates and the timing was too much of a coincidence. As a last resort I searched through my programs to see if I could revert to an earlier date of my OS. And I was able to uninstall the shit offline.
So my internet connection is back. It's still a bit wonky, but at least I can get online most of the time. I don't know why *&$#(*%@ Microsoft would create updates that fuck with one's 'puter. Oh wait, yes I do - cos they're Eeeeevil. I still may have to reformat to get my CD drive to work (the burner works, but the CD drive doesn't). Grrrrrrrrr.
Aaaaanyway... y'all know what tonight is. That's right! It's Monday night and time to head on down to the Lucky Lounge to see my guys play. Look into my eyes... you're getting veeeeeeeery sleepy... now repeat after me: "I will go downtown to see 00:54. And I will buy CDs and t-shirts and drinks for Chris..."
Hey, it's worth a shot. Who wants to make me dinner?
